Meg:
This month’s episode focuses on National Diabetes Awareness Month. This episode was extremely important to me, as Diabetes runs in my family. I really wanted to take this episode as an opportunity to learn about Diabetes and the statistics of the disease. I definitely was able to do that, as I focused on the science and various types of diabetes. I think I was shocked to learn that there could be so many different types, and these types could vary among ages and different groups of people. Seeing the implications diabetes has had on my family really made this episode important. I am grateful that I was able to use this platform as a learning opportunity to find out more about a disease that runs in my family.
Eshaan:
With this month being November, we wanted to focus this episode on diabetes, a prevalent disease that affects millions of people around the globe. Through this episode, I learnt a lot about different types of diabetes, which was really interesting. One fact that shocked me was that women could get diabetes after giving birth. It was also really interesting to learn about the effect insulin has on our bodies. It amazes me how a lack of simple hormones can affect millions of people and also cause a lot of damage within their bodies. The lack of insulin can be catastrophic and it can lead to numerous health issues, including cardiovascular damage. Overall, this episode really informed me on how serious diabetes is and the damage it causes on one’s body.
